Cataract and ptosis surgeries were performed. Several hundred eyeglasses – mainly reading glasses – and eye drops were distributed. Nearly 2000 patients were screened for glaucoma and those with the disease were referred to the local ophthalmologist. A young local ophthalmologist was trained in cataract surgery and in the use of diagnostic equipment. A local ophthalmologist was hosted for 2 days for exchange of experiences. Diagnostic and surgical instruments and eye drops were donated to the local ophthalmologists and eye-nurses. Medicines and 2400$ were donated to the local medical clinics.
