Ocotepec, Chiapas, Mexico, March 2003, 1 week

[cmsms_row][cmsms_column data_width=”1/1″][cmsms_text]

This was our very first mission. A slit-lamp and an operating microscope was transported to Ocotepec and set up for use. Over 600 patients were examined and screened for cataract, glaucoma, refractive error and for other eye-diseases. Cataract surgeries were performed. Eye-drops were distributed. Medicines and clothing was donated to the locals. A relationship was built with the Salesian sisters for continuing cooperation. The needs of the community were assessed and we decided to bring eyeglasses for our next mission. Contact was made with a local ophthalmologist for follow-up of our patients.
